My name is Samantha Elledge and my husband Erik and I are proud parents of Skylar, a two year old little girl with Down Syndrome. Our purpose is to enlighten the public by promoting positive understanding of Down Syndrome in the community, and to be a source of support, information and education for the families and individuals affected by Down Syndrome. Though we all come from different walks of life, we all have one wonderful thing in common...we all love someone who has Down Syndrome. What We Do The vision of the Daytona Beach Down Syndrome Association wishes to promote a happy, healthy, accepting environment, for people of all ages with Down Syndrome and their families. Our Mission Our mission is to be a proactive, dynamic support for the people in the community who have Down Syndrome and their families. To be an advocate for the families, and help individuals become self-advocates. To address social policy issues and conditions to allow individuals with Down Syndrome reach their full potential. To pursue inclusion of individuals who have Down Syndrome in all areas of life so they may have opportunities to contribute and be valued members of society. To dispel myths, promote positive awareness, and emphasize the abilities of people with Down Syndrome to parents, educators, physicians, therapists, and the general public.
